A series of three portraits; this project explores the value we place on material objects, and our fetishisation of sentimental items. These abstract portraits contain objects of great personal value to the subjects; love letters, photos, treasured trinkets and memorabilia.
Here the process is integral to understanding the message; we see these objects, neutralised of their visual impact, slowly cover the photographs. Layers of colour are added, interacting with the scene in a sort of ‘organised chaos’. The end result is three posters, representing three people, undecipherable to the average onlooker. Only through watching the process, can you begin to understand each composition, and their layers.
